General FAQs

Do chariots of mercy have an orphanage in Kenya?

Chariots of mercy foundation do not have an orphanage. Our ministry focuses on coming alongside families in order to prevent children from becoming orphans. Oftentimes parents/guardians are forced to send children to an orphanage because they aren’t able to provide for their basic needs. Your partnership removes the heavy burden of tuition costs, daily meals, and medical care from parents/guardians and allows families to stay intact.

Can I write a letter to the children chariots of mercy foundation serves?

Yes. Children in Kenya love to receive mail from westerners. Please address your letter to “Dear Friends” as we cannot give your letter to a specific child, but will give it to a child that needs a little extra encouragement. Children in Kenya love to hear about your life, how you heard about chariots of mercy and your prayers for the children in Kenya and the children in our outreaches.

You may mail letters to our Stateside office at:

Chariots of mercy foundation
P.O. BOX

Letters are bundled and sent to Kenya several times each year. Please send only a letter and/or photo.

Who/what is a spotlighted child?

A spotlighted child is a child in the Chariots of mercy foundation program whom our team in Kenya has chosen to introduce to you. These children range in age and have unique stories to share. Our hope is that our friends around the world will connect with our Kenyan friends more deeply as you learn about their daily lives. Allowing our in-country team to select these spotlighted stories empowers them to be a part of chariots of mercy foundation globally as they share with you the children that have touched their hearts. So, not only are you connecting with these spotlighted children but also with the hearts of our staff.

So, is the child I received a photo and bio of “my” child?

Everyone who partners with our scholarship program during the same week will receive information on the same spotlighted child. This child is representative of all children your partnership benefits!

What happens if you get enough partners to cover the expenses for all in your program? Is your program going add more children?

The cost of schooling in Kenya increases exponentially as students continue further down their educational path. Costs from primary to secondary can be as much as triple at some of the schools our children attend. Post-secondary only sees a greater increase. As an organization, we commit to supporting our students through university or vocational school, if they should choose that path. Therefore, a portion of each dollar is saved to cover the increased expense as the children in our program get older and further in their schooling.

We do not have a cap on our program. We are excited about the potential this new program has to make the logistical process of adding children much more manageable both in Kenya and Stateside. We will consistently be in prayer and will be obedient to the direction that God provides about the growth of the scholarship program.

Here are our top FAQs:

Does my monthly gift go directly to my child?

Chariots of mercy foundation  child  sponsorship is an amazing model that allows for a one-on-one relationship with a sponsor, while pooling the gifts of all sponsors who support children in the same community so that we are able to provide long-term resources for lasting change.

A child does not receive direct cash benefits like a welfare system. Giving the family of the child money does not ensure responsible spending or that the community will be able to sustain itself once chariots of mercy foundation is no longer working in the area.

Effective development that releases people from long-term poverty lies in helping people discover their God-given potential as human beings, then working together to realize that potential. Spiritual transformation that instills hope and promise for the future is a fundamental key.

Clean water, healthcare, agriculture, education, and income generation are important, but are secondary to the basis of our ability as chariots of mercy in providing and sustaining them.

Can I send money and other gifts directly to my sponsored child?

Yes! You have the opportunity to send a specific extra gift through above the amount of your monthly sponsorship that can go directly to the child and his or her family. Your gift will be sent to the chariots of mercy foundation office then channeled to them, where staff in the field helps them determine and purchase the items they need the most, such as farm animals or school supplies.

You may also send your sponsored child small gifts and cards.

What benefits does my sponsored child receive by being sponsored? How are my sponsorship donations used?

The goal of    chariots of mercy foundation child sponsorship is to make life better for children. Our child sponsorship programs have four basic aspirations that guide our work and on which our work is measured. Children have the right to enjoy good health; be educated for life; be cared for, protected and participating in their communities; and experience the love of God and their neighbors.

Poverty is complex and rarely solved by one intervention. Depending on each community's needs, a sponsored child—and his or her entire community—benefit from things like clean water through new or renovated wells, school fees and supplies, better education due to restored schools and teacher training, improved nutrition due to agricultural training, as well as healthcare clinics and immunizations.

In areas where permitted, chariots of mercy foundation   works with local churches to ensure that a sponsor's gift will also help provide a Christian education program to give children the chance to learn about Jesus and his love.

The costs of keeping records on sponsored children, translating and forwarding letters, and meeting emergencies are also covered through the monthly sponsorship gifts. A portion of these funds supports doctors, teachers, agricultural officers, auditors, and other specialized staff members who serve sponsored children in their communities.

How long is my commitment? When do children "graduate" from the sponsorship program?

Your sponsorship may last several years, depending on the needs of your sponsored child.

The goal of chariots of mercy foundation    sponsorship is to help your sponsored child and his or her community to break the cycle of poverty so they can step into the future with hope.

We manage, monitor, and evaluate progress toward the community's goals.

When these goals are met,   chariots of mercy foundation can move on to other communities to serve other children in need of help.
